THE NATIONAL SYSTEM OF SKI QUALIFICATIONS IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC
With regard to the Directive 2005/36/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 7 September 2005 on the recognition of professional qualifications, Interski Czech Republic declares the Czech national system of ski qualifications.
The Czech Republic recognizes a three-stage system of ski qualifications. The contents, range of training and examination requirements for each qualification are given by an appropriate legislation of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic.
§1
Instruktor lyžování
This license stands for a basic license aimed for internal needs of individual associations, ski clubs, ski schools, and full range of primary, secondary and tertiary educational institutions within the codified national education framework. The required length of training is in minimum of 40 hours. Its holder is qualified to
- teach public only within the activities of these institutions, ski clubs and ski schools. He/she is not eligible to practice one's own private business.

Cvičitel lyžování
This license in an extension of the “Instruktor lyžování” (§1) license and meets the Czech national minimum standard codified by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to obtain the Certificate of professional training for the purpose of providing ski education to the public. The minimum length of training is 210 hours and it is composed of downhill skiing and cross-country skiing modules. Its holder is qualified to:
- obtain a certificate of professional ski qualification enabling to teach the public in full range,
- establish and run one's own private business and / or commercial ski school,
- train applicants for the “Instruktor lyžování” (§1) license.
§3
Učitel lyžování
This license is an extension of the “Cvičitel lyžování” (§2) license and provides its holder the same rights and competences as for holders of the license “Cvičitel lyžování” (§2) – “Učitel lyžování” is a professional license as well. Its holders
- work in the Czech Republic as lecturers at trainings and seminars of the qualifications “Instruktor lyžování” (§1) and “Cvičitel lyžování” (§2),
- work towards the development of techniques and methodics of skiing in the Czech Republic,
- participate in national and international ski organizations, etc.
These individual licenses follow up each other in a straight bottom-up hierarchy. Each applicant is eligible to gain higher qualification only if he/she holds the particular one-stage lower qualification and fulfills the required extent of practice.
It is further eligible that individual ski organizations, ski clubs and ski schools use their own internal licenses, as for example Instructor of Downhill Skiing / Cross-country Skiing / Snowboarding, etc..., for instance The Association of Professional Ski Instructors (APUL), following their membership in ISIA, uses licenses Instructor APUL C, B, A. The license “Instructor APUL A” meets the requirements of ISIA Minimum Standard (450 hours of training).
